These are tough, hard-wearing and rustle free trousers in Single Ventile®, wind and showerproof and highly breathable. They are highly practical with useful, easily accessible bellow pockets for storage. Double Ventile® protection on the ankle, knees and seat makes them perfect for walking through rough undergrowth.

As with all Hilltrek Ventile® and Cotton Analogy® products, Blaven SV Cargo Trousers have minimal rustle making them ideal for wildlife photographers, nature watchers, bushcraft enthusiasts as well as field sports enthusiasts and gardeners.

Named after Blaven (Bla Bheinn), one of the most magnificent mountains in Scotland; a great isolated citadel of rock with fabulous views. Find out more in our Glossary.

    Blaven trousers.

Posted by Adrian Lawson on 1st Aug 2021

First off the trousers are 95% or better for the job I wanted them for.
Ventile is a great cloth for trousers, very very tough, the waterproofing is great, the comfort on even warm days is acceptable and on chillier days their heft very welcome. They’re not quiet though, despite the blurb. The fabric makes a lot of noise when walking. I expect the fabric will soften and quieten but from new, and especially when wet, these are quite noisy.
The quality of manufacturing seems awesome so far, I’ve not found the slightest defect at all
The design is good too, the pocket arrangement is really good, bar the design of the cargo pockets on the thigh, which have a pleated bellows which could be very useful, but don’t expand as there’s a non pleated layer behind which prevents any expansion.
Hilltrek say that can be modified on subsequent pairs, but didn’t explain why it’s designed like that in the first place.
The hidden zipped pockets behind the front pockets are really well designed.
There are other nice maybe subtle touches. The fly unzips quite a bit further than normal which is handy, for a bloke anyway.
The bottom of the legs where mud and friction meet have a double layer that is going to ensure they don’t wear out there!
These are so much better than the lightweight stuff I’m used to. I have happily sat down in bare earths or rock without the slightest worry that I’ll damage these. They really do feel bombproof. They’re nettle and bramble proof too.

I will definitely get a second pair in a few months, I will definitely ensure the pockets are more expandable , the only thing I’d change, and I’ll definitely order them well in advance and keep nagging them.
The best outdoor adventure expedition trousers I’ve come across.
